About

The NCD Action Network is a civil society movement, increasing resources and inspiring action to address the global non-communicable disease (“NCD”) epidemic.

NCD Action was launched in April 2011 in anticipation of the United Nations High-Level Summit on NCDs that took place on September 19-20, 2011.

Recognizing the importance of mobilizing civic coalitions, leadership and heads of state, the Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network (YP-CDN) launched NCD Action as a social movement to inspire civic action around the world. The YP-CDN is kindly hosted by the Global Health Delivery Project, an organization dedicated to improving health through global collaboration.

Who We Are

We are a global alliance of students, professionals and concerned citizens committed to improving the health of communities worldwide by addressing the growing epidemic of NCDs. We believe that the world needs a social movement to drive political action for the prevention of NCDs. Why?

We recognize that NCDs – including cancers, heart disease, chronic respiratory illnesses, and diabetes mellitus – are the greatest cause of death and disability worldwide, that approximately 80% of these deaths occur in developing countries, and that – if immediate action is not taken – these diseases will increase by 17% in the next decade.

We also recognize that NCDs significantly impact people’s quality of life and capacity to work and that addressing NCDs would improve the lives of millions of people around the world, particularly in developing communities.

Most importantly, we recognize that effective solutions exist – that we have the capacity to reverse the skyrocketing trend of NCDs – and that the current failure to develop and implement these solutions is swiftly becoming a global tragedy.

Join Our Team

NCD Action is an opportunity to have a real and tangible impact on health and quality of life for individuals, families, and communities around the world. By building coalitions and awareness and by calling on our civic leadership to make NCDs a priority, we can mobilize resources to develop and implement effective solutions that will make a difference.
